Tomás was born in Cusco, the son of a tailor, who passed down the love and secrets of tailoring from a young age. “At twelve, I learned to choose my own style: the shirt, the pants, and the jacket were things I imagined and then made,” Tomás recalls. In his family atelier, he used a coal iron and a foot-pedal machine, with the Liberty 1980 being the first one he learned to sew with. “My father taught me discipline and precision,” Tomás notes, “it’s in the details where my father’s essence lives, in the demanding process of making each garment.”
After years of mastering the nuances of fabric selection and tailoring, Tomás decided to leave his birthplace and travel to Lima, the capital of Peru. This journey represented a significant challenge for Tom. Starting a new chapter, enriched by all his experience, he set out to establish his brand.
Today, Tom Gutie reflects that legacy in each of his designs, which he creates from the heart. With “joyful” colors, he highlights his unique vision within luxury fashion. For him, colors are not just an aesthetic choice; they represent the style, harmony, and beauty of each piece. Tom Gutie’s creative process remains very traditional. Tom, true to his knowledge of tailoring and his father’s discipline, develops new techniques for each collection.
All our coats are designed by Tom, who first sketches the initial designs, ensuring that every detail is perfect. He then meticulously selects the fabrics that best convey the emotions he wants to convey. Together with traditional techniques and innovative patterns developed by himself, he creates unique pieces that stand out just by looking at them.
